Before Camp NaNoWriMo, I have one other thing to look forward to -- and I am hoping that, like last year, it will help motivate me to write in April:
Anomaly Con!
Last year I went to Anomaly Con for the first time. My friends and I actually stayed at the hotel where it was being held, sharing a room and bringing snack food so that we had a place to rest and eat in between the panels and workshops we were going to. It was a really fun weekend, and so we're doing it again this year: staying in the hotel as well as attending the con.
Last year there were a lot of great writers panels and writing workshops -- it seems like a con that is geared as much to aspiring writers as it is to lovers of steampunk and sci-fi. I got lots of ideas last year that I applied to my writing during camp in April, and I'm hoping to do the same this year. There are some repeat panels, but there are also a lot of new panels and workshops that look pretty interesting. And I'll go to a couple of the repeats with some of my favorite panelists, or on some of my favorite topics -- anything that might help my freelancing career as well as my career as a novelist, such as panels on marketing topics, are especially interesting to me, and worth repeating in case they offer new information.
I'm going with a good group of people, and we have some fun costumes planned for the weekend. A good event combined with good company and good fun... It should be an epic weekend!
