Taking a break from Ruby Ransome

I've decided that this year for NaNo, I'm going to work on a completely different project.  I'm not going to start the second novel of Ruby Ransome, nor am I going to continue working on revisions of the first novel (where I've been stalled for about a month now).  I am going to start a new project, one I thought of a few days ago -- something to write for FUN.  I don't necessarily have plans to publish it, just to write and enjoy it.

It was a hard decision, but as stuck and discouraged as I've been feeling on RR, I decided I needed some time away -- a little distance, a vacation (if you will) for my writerly mind.  My goal is to complete this entire project in the month of November (it should be a fairly short novel), and then go back to working on the revisions of Ruby Ransome and Pandora's Box.

I don't want to give away too much of the new project, but the working title is Don Juan Triumphant.  I've updated my NaNoWriMo novel page and the NaNoWriMo 2013 icon in the sidebar.  I'll be working on plotting and planning until NaNo starts -- I want to have a solid plan for this novel, so that the writing will go quickly and I can get it done in November!

Of course, if it doesn't go as well as I am hoping, I may go back to working on Ruby Ransome during the month, and just count all word count in November.  But I am hoping that will not be necessary.  I have been working on virtually nothing except Ruby Ransome for more than two years now, and I think it's time I gave myself a creative vacation from her world and lived in a new one for a time!
